The Singing Librarians was formed when a group of UP School of Library and Information Studies students started practicing for the CarolFest 2007. It was a whirlwind experience for the group. They went through ups and downs, even considered backing out of the competition. However, their passion for music prevailed. The group did not win, though they gained an experience they'll never forget.

After that performance at the UP Theater, people started to notice the vocal prowess of the group. A number of invitation to events poured. A few of the events include: The Gabriel Bernardo Lecture, UP SLIS Christmas Party, UP SLIS Recognition Day, etc.

In 2008, the group, along with the Stars from UP, wowed the audience from Araneta Coliseum during the UP Grand Centennial Alumni-Faculty Homecoming and Reunion.

The Singing Librarians will continue to reach out to more people and to more places with their excellent music for the years to come.
